Master M.L. Allen was born on a plantation in Delta, Louisiana and found Martial Arts at the age of 22.
He first was introduced to a teacher of Isshinryu Karate named Clarence Ewing, who trained under Master Tatsuo Shimabuku in Okinawa, Japan.M.L. became one of his best students and trained constantly until he earned his Black Belt. From that time on, M.L has been teaching the art.
His first school was in Indianapolis, Indiana. He managed to move around but stayed loyal to the Isshinryu art. He has given back to the community for the last 50 years and has turned out black belts of his own.
M.L. lives a strong Christian life and he introduces God to children who are unaware of our Lord through prayer before and after Karate classes. He has assisted in programs such as “Shattering the Silence” with wife, Caron Allen, and self-defense programs called “WIN” at the Salvation Army Domestic Violence Centers. He also has a seminar for the community called “Respecting Authority” which educates both parents and children on what authority expects of them.
M.L. is now 76 years old and going strong. He actively teaches in his dojo called “The Way Out Isshinryu Karate” along with his wife, Caron.
