Don Nash (Inducted 2013)

Master Don Nash started in the Martial Arts with Judo in 1964 and then switched to Isshinryu Karate.  He received the rank of ShoDan in Isshinryu on January 22, 1970 by Sensei John Hendrickson (Dojo of Ocean County).  He opened the Isshinryu Karate Klub on October 1, 1970.


Master Nash often says, “I have only one Sensei but many teachers.”Over the past 49 years in the Martial Arts, he has trained with the following martial arts instructors who have given him what he has today:  Sensei John Hendrickson, Grand Master Don Nagle, Master J H Kim, Master AJ Advincula, Master Sherman Harrill, Grand Master AngiUezu, Grand Master KichiroShimabuku, Master Joe Lewis, Master Seiyu Oyata, Grand Master Gary Alexander, and Master KenshoTokumura.


Master Nash has competed in many tournaments since 1969 and has received many awards including awards from JH Kim Institute, BKG Organization, IIKA (Isshinryu Spirit award 1988) and the IKKAI of India (2013).


He is a member of AOKA (Steve Armstrong) #129, AOKA/IWKA (Shimabuku) #3555, AOKA, Inc. (Nagle), the IKA #001, American Isshinryu #006 (Board of Directors Trustee and Membership Committee), MEMA #009 (Board of Directors/Treasure), and the United States Judo Association # 358032 (lifetime member #21488).


His favorite saying is “to know and not to do is not to know!”
