All Isshinryu Practitioners Building & Recognizing Master Tatsuo Shimabuku's Vision Together

Ron Cimorose (Inducted 2014)

Sensei Ronnie Cimorose began Isshinryu Karate training in 1984. His father, Ronnie Cimorose Sr., had been a student of Seibukan Shorin-ryu in the late 1960s and suggested that he train under Master Toby Cooling.

After receiving his shodan in 1989, he continued to train almost daily with instructors such as Master Toby Cooling, Master Bud Ewing, and Senseis Juan López, Larry Jackson, Danny Cross, and Barry Smith. It was nothing for him to travel 2 hours one-way for the opportunity to learn under these teachers.

Sensei Cimorose was granted permission by Master Cooling to open his first Dojo in 1990 in Elkton, MD.During this time, he spent most of his time running the dojo and competing in tournaments and shiais throughout the Northeastern US. He was a member of the Order of Isshinryu demonstration team performing and promoting Isshinryu throughout the MD/DE/PA area.

In 1994, Sensei Cimorose received the IHOF Instructor of the Year award in Pigeon Forge, TN.

For more than ten years he taught self-defense classes at the Cecil County Battered Women’s Shelter as well as the Cecil County Rape Prevention Center. Sensei Cimorose upon request has taught women’s self-protection classes in major corporations throughout Maryland and Delaware as well as children’s classes for the Cecil County School District.

As a guest instructor, Sensei Cimorose has promoted Isshin-Ryu Karateby teaching seminars in dojos throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and Australia.

Since 1995, he has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Order of Isshin-Ryu, including the positions of president and vice-president.

Sensei Cimorose most recently was promoted to Nana-Dan in 2012by his Sensei, Master Toby Cooling. His brother and sister black belts in the Order of Isshinryu will tell you that he is a man of integrity, and leads by example. Both kyu students and black belts respect him for his personable demeanor and dedication to the art of Isshinryu and the Order of Isshinryu.

Sensei Cimorose balances his training and teaching time with his wife, Cheryl, and his daughter, Julia.
