Heidi Gauntner (Inducted 2015)

Kyoshi Heidi Gauntner began training in September 1982.  She is currently a 7th Dan in Isshinryu Karate and a 4th Dan in Traditional Okinawa Weaponry.  Her certifications include the following: Certified Martial Arts Instructor through Okinawa, Licensed Teacher in the State of Ohio, and Level “A” certified referee of IWKA rules.  She is the Chief Instructor and Owner of the Isshinryu Karate Academy, LLC and Kent Karate & Family Fitness, and hold membership in the Isshinryu World Karate Association (IWKA), and WHD Association.

Over the last 25 years, Kyoshi Gauntner has hosted over 150 tournaments.  She has given over 75 seminars and is well liked by her peers.  As a person who is unmatched in running a tournament floor, her presence is always welcome to help on tournament floors.  She knows how to get the job done.

She has been taught by the following instructors: 1982-1990 Ron Shaw and OJ Floyd; 1990-1998 Kyoshi John Lennox; 1999-2014 Hanshi William H. Duessel.

Kyoshi Gauntner has won many Grand Championships in the I.W.K.A. World Isshinryu Championship and the Isshinryu Hall of Fame tournaments.  She has also won grand Championships in several large open tournaments.  Many of her students have won Grand Championships as well.  

Kyoshi Heidi Gauntner has been an ambassador to Isshinryu and continues to give of herself to the Isshinryu cause.
